Aggressive and Loose – Gus Hansen, the Great Dane of Poker

Gus Hansen is one of the greatest poker players of all time; hence his nickname, the Great Dane of Poker. Hansen lives in Monaco, but he competes all over the world.

Gus Hansen turned to professional poker in 1997. But before he was dominating at the poker table, Hansen was exercising his competitive spirit elsewhere. He was a top notch backgammon player, as well as a youth champion in tennis.

Gus Hansen is best known for his style of play. He is very loose at all times, but has an aggressive streak about him that cannot be matched by many other players. Hansen is very skilled at the art of bluffing, as well as reading other players. Above all else, Hansen can afford to be aggressive because he is great at assessing a situation and then figuring out the probability of winning a hand.

Over the years Gus Hansen has garnered many accolades in the poker industry. In 2004, he was one of the first players to be inducted into the World Poker Tour Hall of Fame. He is also one of the founding owners for the website pokerchamps.com. In 2005, Gus Hansen sold his company for approximately $15.

One of Gus Hansen’s biggest wins came at the Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. For winning this tournament, Gus Hansen took home a first place prize of $1.

It is safe to say that Gus Hansen is one of the greatest poker players of all time. And it does not appear that he is going anywhere in the near future.
